SEDU Q & A
What is Tourmaline and how does it affect Sedu?
Tourmaline is a precious stone that possesses the ability to release
negative ions when heated. These negative ions are beneficial because they
result in less damage to the hair cuticle, allowing for a smooth and shiny finish.
Sedu’s true ceramic/Tourmaline plates guarantee a smooth straightening motion without pulling
or breaking hair, allowing hair to become up to three times smoother and silkier than
when using an ordinary ceramic iron. They also generate six times more negative ions
than other ceramic irons, cutting your hair straightening time in half, renewing luster,
and eliminating frizz.
How long does Sedu take to heat up?
The Sedu heats up within twenty five seconds from being turned on, faster
than conventional coil straightening irons. A ready light will flash when the
iron has reached your desired temperature. In order to save electricity and to
prolong the lifespan of your iron, it should be turned off between uses with the
On-Off switch located on the temperature control thermostat.
How heavy is the Sedu?
The Sedu Ionic Ceramic Tourmaline Flat Iron is ergonomically
designed for effortless styling with your own hair, or with your
client’s hair.
The Sedu 1.5” iron and 1” iron weigh under a half of a pound.
Both models have nine feet of swivel cord to prevent tangling.
Can I use Sedu on African American hair?
Sedu can be used on all hair types including ethnic hair.
Can I adjust the temperature of my Sedu?
Sedu flat irons do come with a temperature dial that can be adjusted from 240 ºF - 410ºF
(120°C - 200°C.) For bleached, fragile, damaged and fine hair, the lower setting is advised.
For normal hair and regular use, a middle range is recommended. For coarse, thick,
ethnic and resistant hair in healthy condition, maximum heat on high setting is used to save
time and effort.
Where can I purchase a Sedu flat iron?
Sedu flat irons (both the 1” and 1.5”) are only
available in salons and via www.Folica.com. If you choose to retail the Sedu irons,
you will be added to an exclusive list of salon retailers on www.SeduBeauty.com.
Does Sedu have a warranty?
The appliance carries a one year limited warranty against defects caused by faulty material
or workmanship. Damages due to the improper handling of the iron relating to the steel parts,
plastic parts, and the flex cord are not covered by the warranty. Please contact your Sedu retailer
for more information.
How long will it take to straighten my hair?
Thanks to the high concentration of negative ions
in the ceramic/Tourmaline plates, Sedu will straighten your hair in half the time than other irons.
The adjustable temperature also allows you to turn up the heat for thicker or longer hair in order to
decrease the time and effort needed to straighten your hair.
Can I curl my hair with Sedu?
Your Sedu can be used to create a myriad of hairstyles including
flat straight, soft curls, flip out, and flip in. Please see diagram below for details and directions.

1.Flat Straight
Insert a 2-inch section of hair between the plates, then squeeze the handle together and glide slowly through
hair from the roots to the ends.
2.Soft Curls
Insert a 2-inch section of hair between the plates, gently squeeze the handle together and glide iron to the ends,
then wind hair around.
3.Flip Out
Insert a 2-inch section of hair between the plates, then squeeze the handle together and glide slowly
through hair from the roots, slightly flip out the ends.
4.Flip In
Insert a 2-inch section of hair between the plates, then squeeze the handle together and
glide slowly through hair from the roots, slightly flip in the ends.
How do I determine which flat iron width is best for my hair?
Generally speaking, the length of your hair is used to determine which width flat iron is best for you.
If you have short to medium length hair, the Sedu 1” flat iron is best. The Sedu 1 ½” flat iron is better
if your hair is medium to long. However, if you have thick or exceptionally curly hair, it is best to
go with the Sedu 1 ½” flat iron to decrease time and effort.
